Days 11 - 17 - Dukan Diet Cruise Phase

Wow, I finally got to the Dukan Diet Cruise Phase. I thought it was relatively easy to do the Attack Phase and wasn't really looking forward to introduce vegetables. I think it was mainly because I now have to really think about what to cook. Before I could cook the family a meal they really enjoyed but from now on they will have to eat a Dukan friendly meal. So I suppose it will be trial and error until I find something they really like.

For the rest of the diet I will put up a weekly blog rather than a daily one. The weight loss should be about a kilo a week from what I've read on other websites so rather than weighing every day, I'd be looking at the overall weight loss for the week.

With a total weight loss of 3.6kg for the Attack Phase, I'm motivated to loose the rest. I can already feel some clothes fitting better and my tummy has definitely shrunk a little.

Starting weight on Cruise was 88.8kg. On the morning of Day 17 I weighed 87.8kg, which is a loss of 1kg for the first week on Cruise and a total weight loss of 4.6kg.

I started eating what is allowed on the Dukan diet, but with friends over for dinner twice this week and having gone to the Cooly Rocks On festival, I have been naughty. So instead of listing what I've eaten for the week, I'd rather tell you the bad stuff I ate.

On day 13 I roasted chicken drumsticks vegetables (pumpkin, potato & carrot). I couldn't resist the potato and had three small ones. Despite this I still lost 400g that day.

Day 14 was a PP day and I pretty much stuck to the diet (just in case those potatoes only show it's weight today)

Day 15 was a really bad PV day. I had all good intentions making pumpkin soup to take with me to playgroup, as everybody has some morning tea there and I usually just sit there not eating anything. Playgroup got cancelled so we decided to go to the Cooly Rocks On festival. I forgot my lunch bag in the car and didn't realise until we got to the other side of town. So we decided to have lunch somewhere. I ordered savoury mince and egg, but the savoury mince would have had lots of bad stuff in it.
Then we had friends over for a fish stir fry and prawns. Hubby cooked and briefly forgot that I can't have most of the stuff (like the sauce and noodles and some of the vegetables). I didn't want to be rude so I ate a medium sized portion of the lot. I know - very very naughty. I was good enough not to have the garlic bread, but did have a tiny little bit of the berry pie for desert. I made some Meringue cakes and cheesecake for my desert & explained that I'm on a diet and couldn't eat the pie and ice cream. Rude I know but I have been naughty enough.
So after Day 15 I expected to pick up at least 500g, but somehow, I still lost 100g. All that walking must have been enough to cancel out the extra calories.

Day 16 was meant to be a PP day but I had some leftover pumpkin soup and was planning a beef stroganoff for the family so decided I'll just go one more PV and balance it out over the fortnight.
Oops, I gained 200g because of that, but decided it won't get me down because of the overall weight loss for the week still being on track.

Today, Day 17 and the last day of the first week on Cruise will be a PP day and I will be very good. It's raining and I don't know what I'll do for exercise but I'm thinking of going to the shopping centres for a browse. Not brisk walking but I'm sure it's better than nothing.

I still have not felt like I've been on a diet as far as headaches & tiredness goes, but did have a slight headache the morning after having the stir fry.

With nearly a quarter of my excess weight lost, I'm ready for the rest.

Day 10 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

Weight this morning was 89.0kg. A loss of 200g and a total weight loss of 3.4kg

With another 200g off this morning it just confirms that the scales must have been wrong two days ago. Or I'm also starting to think it could be the salt on those sneaky chips I had. I might retain water because of that! If I loose weight suddenly during the first few days of Cruise, we'll know that that is the reason. Time will tell

Waking up this morning I actually feel like vegetables, so maybe all that thinking about vegetables yesterday prepared me for my first PV day. I am almost tempted to start PV today but is put off by the fact that I then will have a PV day at work and I don't want that. PP is much easier.

Today I had:
-3 x Coffee with skim milk
-1 x Chai tea with skim milk
-2 litres water
-1/2 glass diet lemon fizzy drink
-1 x Warm Cocoa Fudge (one serve of Oat Bran)
-3 x slices 97% fat free Roast Beef
-3 x teaspoons lite creamed Cottage Cheese
-10 little Meringue Cakes (half plain & half with chocolate essence & cinnamon)
-2 very lean beef burger patties with a cottage cheese/balsamic vinegar/mustard/parsley sauce
-3 slices Meatloaf with the above mentioned sauce

Today I felt like sneaking in some of the kid's mini double chocolate muffins/cakes I made, but only had a tiny taste to see if it tasted okay. I used a gluten free muffin mix but with all that chocolate it looked more like a cake.

Tomorrow is my first PV day. I'm going to make a beef roast in the slowcooker. I've never done this so lets hope I don't stuff this one up.

Day 9 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

Weight this morning was 89.2kg. Gain of 400g and a total weight loss of 3.2kg

That sort of confirms that the scales must have been wrong yesterday, unless I did loose a lot of fluid and it is now just being retained again.

I wasn't really too shocked by the weight gain as I thought the loss of 900g yesterday was a bit too much.

So today I tried out my new chocolate essence. I'm sure it is not any better nutritional wise than the cocoa I have, but mentally it seems better.

First I made chocolate pralines and substituted the cocoa with half the amount of chocolate essence. Next time I should use a lot less. It was so chocolaty I could hardly eat it. Just tasted too sweet. It took all day snacking on one ice cube size, just to finish one. Luckily there's only about three ice cube sizes. My son likes it though...

Second, I tried a cheese cake. This flopped too, for many reasons. I used too much chocolate essence, the pan I used was too big so it came out too flat and lastly I tried turning it to cook the bottom a bit crispier, but broke the thing in lots of pieces.

As you can see I'm not so good in the kitchen. I'm hoping one day I'll get banned so I don't have to cook anymore. Ha ha maybe that's wishful thinking.....

Lastly I made some Warm Cocoa Fudge, which didn't look like the picture at all. I didn't taste these as each portion has one day worth of oat bran and I've already planned on having Dukan Bread, which will be my oat bran for the day. I might try these tomorrow even though it's meant for the Cruise phase and not really suitable for the Attack phase.

Today I had:
-3 x Coffee with skim milk
-1/2 glass diet lemon fizzy drink
-1.5 litres water
-2 x slices 97% fat free Roast Beef
-2 x slices 97% fat free English Ham
-1 tbs lite creamed Cottage Cheese
-1 serve Dukan Bread
-1 slice 97% fat free Cajun Chicken - this has a high carb content but I ate it anyway
-1 ice cube size chocolate praline (as mentioned before, it took me all day to eat this)
-2 x BirdsEye lemon & parsley steamed Fish (definitely a favourite meal at the moment)

I started thinking about what veg I'll have on my first PV day on Monday. Early in the day I felt like I just don't want vegetables, almost dreading having to have vegetables. By night time I sort of accepted that I have to start vegetables soon. I don't know why I dreaded introducing vegetables as I usually like vegetables. Roasted vegetables in particular. It might be because subconsciously I know that the weight loss will slow down as soon as I introduce the vegetables.

Day 8 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

My weight this morning was 88.8kg. A loss of 900g for the day and a total weight loss of 3.6kg.

Wow that is amazing! I had to climb on the scale twice to make sure I got the correct weight. I didn't expect to loose that much. It is more than 1kg more than what was estimated on the Dukan website.

With that I feel like being a little naughty. I'm meeting some friends for lunch and decided that I will make myself a dessert to take with and as I don't have fat free cocoa I've decided I'll use what I have and live with the consequences. I tried two different recipes and neither came out nice. The first was horrible so I threw it out. The second I took with me to eat sneakily at the cafe. Turns out the other girls didn't even have anything nice so I never ate mine. I threw it out when I got home.

I went shopping after lunch and found some imitation Chocolate Essence with the ingredients being water, propylene glycol, glycerine, chocolate flavour & colour. So now I can make my chocolate flavoured desserts with a little less guilt. I hope it tastes goooooood.

Today I had:
-2 x Coffee with Skim Milk
-1.5 litres of water
-1 x mug skinny Flat White
-3 x Muffins (1 serve Oat Bran)
-2 x slices 97% fat free Chicken
-3 x slices 97% fat free Roast beef
-2 tbs lite creamed Cottage Cheese
-1/2 small grilled Chicken Breast at the cafe (sure this was done in some sort of oil/butter)
-1 whole breast of a Red Rooster roasted Chicken - without the skin
-1/2 cup no fat vanilla Yoghurt
-2 very yummy potato chips with too much salt on it (I know - very naughty - the scales will tell how naught in the morning)

As I'm writing this blog I'm thinking about what I can make with this new chocolate essence I got - Yum!

Day 7 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

My weight this morning was 89.7kg. A loss of 300g for the day and a total weightloss of 2.7kg.

Wow I can't believe I've made it to day 7 without any major hiccups. I thought by now I would have craved carbs and that I would have had at lease a little bit of something thats not Dukan friendly.

I'm very happy with the weight loss for the 7 days. The Dukan website said I should follow the Attack phase for seven days and with an estimated loss of 2.4kg. So it was close.

I don't crave vegetables or anything else really, but I have started thinking it would be nice to try some of the Dukan diet friendly desserts. Maybe thats my way of craving the carbs.

Today I had:
-3 x Coffee with Skim Milk
-about 160ml of Diet Ginger Beer
-1/4 cup No fat Vanilla Yoghurt
-3 slices 97% fat free Ham
-4 slices 97% fat free Chicken
-1 egg done with Mixed Herbs
-1 serve of Dukan Bread
-3 tbs lite creamed Cottage Cheese
-about 6 slices of the Roast Beef I made for the family

As I said, I don't crave vegetables so I've decided to do 10 days of Pure Protein with vegetables on day 11. Which would work great for me. Day 12 will be a work day (I work Tuesdays and every second Thursdays) and it's easier eating protein only on those days. I have also decided to do PP on Tues, Thurs, Sat and every second Sunday. I know it's not ideal but at least I'll get seven PP and seven PV every two weeks.

Day 6 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

I weighed 90.0kg this morning. Weight loss of 400g for the day and a total of 2.4kg.

I was very happy to see the scales go down  a little bit. Finally I'm 90kg. Soon I'l be in the 80's which sound soooo much better than 90 something kilo's.

I've decided to have a nice warm breakfast today. I finally tried the Dukan bread I made a couple of days ago. It's not as salty as I thought it would be. It was actually quite nice with my egg and lean ham steaks. Just a pity I had to share it with my eldest son. Mum's toast looked better than his! With the pan I used, one serve was either two thick slices or three normal slices.

I had:
-2 x Coffee with skim Milk
-1 x cup of Rooibos Tea with skim Milk
-2 x lean Ham steaks done in a pan like bacon (no oil)
-2 x scrambled Eggs
-1 serve of Dukan Bread (1 serve of oat bran)
-3 big slices of lean Ham w Cottage Cheese (I put a blob of cheese on a slice with cracked pepper then rolled it up making a yummy roll)
-1/4 cup no fat vanilla Yoghurt
-1 x breast of a roasted Chicken

I felt full all day and could quite easily have skipped lunch but I knew I had to eat as it's one of the rules of the Dukan Diet.

Today I decided that I'll go to a health store to try find Fromage and Quark. I found Quark but it wasn't low fat so I didn't get it. The label said "European Style Cottage Cheese" so I decided I'll just use the Lite Creamed Cottage Cheese instead.

Day 5 - Dukan Diet Attack Phase

My weight this morning was 90.4kg. A gain of 300g and a total weight loss of 2kg.

What a shocker! I blame hormones for retaining water. It certainly wasn't anything I ate yesterday.

Even though I was a little shocked to see a gain whilst on the Attack phase I'm not going to let it get me down. I'm still quite happy with the 2kg I've lost. According to the official Dukan Diet website I would loose 2.4kg in the seven Attack days. So with two more days to go I'm quite content with 2kg in five days.

As this is my first day at work since starting the diet I wasn't sure how I'd cope as this is usually the time that I'd be snacking on biscuits or lollies all day. I think I did well. I made the Dukan Muffins a couple of days ago so decided to take these to work to eat when I'd usually have biscuits. As I have three muffins in a serve, it should be good to substitute.

Today I had:

-2 x Coffee with skim milk
-2 x Chai tea with skim milk
-5 slice Chicken (I was a little hungry when I woke up but wasn't ready to have breakfast yet so I snacked on one slice)
-1/2 cup no fat vanilla Yoghurt
-3 Muffins (1 serve - which is my oat bran for the day)
-3 thick slices leftover roasted Turkey
-4 slices 97% fat free peppered Ham
-1 small tin Tuna in springwater
-5 tablespoons lite creamed Cottage Cheese
-10 small Meatballs as per the recipe in the Dukan Diet Recipe Book
-2 litres of water

I'm surprised that I'm not craving all the stuff I used to eat unless I see it. And even then I just think that it would be nice to be finished with the diet. I must admit though that I have had the odd lick of my fingers when I'd handled the kids' ice cream or maybe a couple crumbs of their muffins. That definately seemed to have helped with not craving junk. Well that's my story and I'm sticking with it!
